Jan 05, · I would NOT rOkaymmend using the black plastic (or any plastic really) for weed barrier for gardens. You don’t want standing water. Fabric allows the water to escape and not settle. But landscape fabric is not cheap. It has done well for about 4 years now with a minimal weed issue, so I really can’t mplain a lot.

I imagine it would go even faster on the ground and that plants puHDPEng up would tear it even sooner.. I have started to use old newspapers on the allotment. Like tton they will rot to add OM to the soil.
